In my part of the World, Australia, things really slow down over the Christmas Holiday.  For about 6 weeks.  People take their summer holidays.  And I’m sure if you don’t celebrate Christmas in your part of the World, you have similar long periods of ‘down-time’.

Customers are away, you can’t maintain your sales and marketing efforts……and the ‘post holiday’ period can be a struggle to get momentum again.

So here’s what I do:

  1. Maximise your sales effort 3-4 months out from a major holiday.  This way you’ll have a couple of client projects that are likely to see you through the down time.
  2. If you can, take time off!  I always take time out to clear my head, relax a bit, not too much, and plan my year ahead.
  3. Use the down-time to focus on you and your family.  If your sales pipeline is healthy, don’t stress!
